Nake Rural Institute of Women (Home economics, horticulture, farming demonstration, policy conception, implementation and evaluation. Visited cottage industries for Neem products and other natural resources as potential for income generation. Presenting two research papers on fire (Texas) and cotton pest control (Senegal). Interviews and appearance on The Indian Express (11/28/02); article: “This doctor strives to give Senegal a “bitter cure”.

Apr. 1994 1- Chemonics International Entomologist Consultant. Chemonics International/USAID Guinea-Conakry Natural Resource Management Project. I evaluated, pest status and recommended an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approaches on termite, stored product insects, pesticide storage management and farming practice. 2- Country Senior Extension Agent Cotton and Field Crops. Senegalese Institute for Agricultural Research (ISRA) and Textile Fiber Company (SODEFITEX), Tambacounda, Senegal. Pesticide efficacy screening tests for country registration. Trained staff and farmers on innovative production techniques through farmer’s forum. Inventoried and described of farmer’s needs, existing empirical farmer’s practices and farmer accepted scientific technology in Senegal and The Gambia as a baseline study for the WARDA countries. Dr. Doudou Diané Faye-


Dr. Doudou D. Faye is native of Kaolack, Senegal, West Africa. He received his degree as Agricultural Works Engineer with specialization in Entomology and Crop Protection from Bambey National Agronomy School of Rural Engineers, before serving as a National Crop Protection Prospector from 1975 to 1978, and the first Regional Phytosanitary Inspector of Diourbel Region, Senegal. From 1980 to 1991, Dr. Faye studied in the USA (Oklahoma State University (1880-82), Stillwater, OK, Purdue University IPM program (Summer 1982), Texas A&M IPM program (Summer 1982) and graduated as Entomologist/Agronomist from Texas Tech University in Lubbock Texas with a Bachelor's of Science (1984), Masters of Science (1988) and Ph.D. (1991).

From 1991 to 1994, Dr. Faye served in Tambacounda, Eastern Senegal as the Country's Senior Entomologist in charge of the R&D in cotton and food crops. As a consultant, Dr. Faye acted as expert for local NGO - West Africa Rural Foundation (www.frao.org) and Rodale International (www.rodaleinstitute.org) in sustainable development project identification, implementation and evaluation. He also co-authored a compendium on identification and description of empirical and research-based alternatives for rural development in Senegal and the Gambia (French and English versions). Dr. Faye served as Pesticide and Termite/Stored Product Pest Specialist for Chemonics/USAID Guinea-Conakry Natural Resource Project. Dr. Faye is currently an Integrated Pest Management Pesticide Specialist Consultant for the US Millennium Challenge Corporation/Maryland based Development Alternatives Inc. (DAI) Mali project (www.dai.com). As a neem specialist, Dr. Faye has attended and contributed in several Neem Foundation World Neem Conferences, with the most recent one in 2007 at Coimbatore, India. Dr. Faye was selected among the Senegalese scientists in the Diaspora by the University of Dakar (UCAD)/UNPD/Senegal Government to attend the first UCAD Diaspora Day to present his work through ABC and his neem research and outreach program in December 2007. From the Conference, his program ABC Neem program for income Generation and sustainability was among the 4 selected ones to be considered in the future UCAD Rural program.

In the USA, as a co-owner, Dr. Faye served as Senior Scientist in charge of the Research and Development and EPA registration of Stet Corporation (www.stetcorp.com), maker of the WisEarth True StopTM organic Fire Ant (Solenopsis invicta, Buren) and Whitefly (Bemisia tabaci and B. argentifolii) pesticides, soil amendment and plant nutrients. He is also the owner and operator of CommonSense Pest Management, a pest control company based in Austin, TX from where he received the State Farm Insurance Unsung Hero Award in 1999 for his commitment in providing environmentally safe pest management services to needy people for the prevention of Asthma in low-income households in Austin. Presently, Dr. Faye focuses on botanicals pesticides and income generator for rural communities in Senegal with emphasis on scientific and economical advocacy of the rational exploitation of the neem tree (Azadirachta indica, Juss).

Dr. Faye is the president and founder of Africa Bound Corporation (ABC), www.africabound.org, a 501c3 Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), chartered in Texas and headquartered in Cedar Creek, TX. He is also one of the co-founders of the Austin African Chamber of Commerce of Texas (ACCT) where he served as Public Relations Officer (2001-2002). He also liaised the current and successful involvement of ABC in several outreach programs to Africa ranging from youth outreach for education and health opportunities to woman empowerment. He is a promoter of community development at grass-root level for empowerment, leadership and sustainability. Some of his involvement include: speaker at the 2002 Texas Renewable Energy Round-Up in Fredericksburg, Texas, presenter of two scientific neem studies in the 2002 World Neem Conference in Mumbai, India, contributor at the 1999 World Neem Conference at the British Columbia University in Vancouver, Canada, and Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas. He is presently spearheading the Neem Movement in Senegal through his new organization: Senegal Neem Foundation (www.senegalneemfoundation.org) as well as the World Neem Conference project in Senegal in 2010 in collaboration with India Neem Foundation (
www.neemfoundation.org) where he is member of the Advisory Board as Africa Person-Resource for the World Neem Conference. Dr. Faye is recently invited as Advisory Board member of the 2008 Herbal World Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (www.herbalworld-expo.com) where he will also be a keynote speaker of "How African Stay Healthy, Naturally". One of his focuses in ABC is solving the water problem in rural and sub-rural Africa, starting in Senegal, and to reduce malaria incidence in infested area through Integrated Pest Management (IPM), education, sanitation, TeleHealth, appropriate use of neem, other green pesticides, and common sense approaches). Dr. Faye has presented or authored scientific papers in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) from national and international conferences and consulting reports.

Dr. Faye commitment to African development through opportunity identification and match making is very stressed in his mission to serve. He participated in a water well drilling camp, an international 5-day workshop organized by Living Water International and Lone Star Bits of Houston, TX for individuals and organizations with water well drilling programs. Recently, he volunteered as Entomologist and General Help for the Austin Red Cross during Hurricane Katrina Aftermath Relief Effort in the City of Austin, TX. He is currently facilitating under ABC "It All About Kids" program an increasing effort toward kid summer trips to Africa.


In summer of 2005, a group of nine participated in a Senegal Youth Outreach trip. With his charismatic approach in communication and outreach, and through ABC mission in linking the USA and Africa in mutually beneficial relations, Dr. Faye has developed and maintained strong ties with several social, local, political and religious entities in Africa, especially in Senegal. He is polyglot: (French, English, Spanish and Wolof, native). Dr. Faye and family live in Cedar Creek, Texas where he is now building an African Village in the family 10 acres of wilderness, a crucial project of ABC program. He is married and father of two (son, 25), and daughter, 20, in charge of It’s All About Kids, ABC Youth Outreach program.
